JMW Psychotherapy

I’m Joshua Weiss, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Ontario. I work with adolescents and adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem challenges, life transitions, and questions around identity. My approach is collaborative, structured, and focused on helping you build lasting skills that you can apply in your day-to-day life. In our work together, we focus on identifying what is maintaining patterns like anxiety, self-criticism, or low motivation, and then developing practical, evidence-based strategies to shift them. I draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy to support emotional regulation, increase confidence, and create a clearer sense of direction. The goal is not just insight, but meaningful, sustainable change.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent years working as a private tutor and basketball coach, where I saw firsthand how powerful encouragement, structure, and goal-setting can be. I bring that same supportive and collaborative energy into therapy, creating a space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful change. I also provide culturally affirming counselling and work respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.

Outside of my work, I’m passionate about basketball, golf, cooking, and community involvement; all of which keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of growth, resilience, and connection.

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you are used to handling things on your own. If this resonates with you, reaching out can be a helpful first step.
